How do you actually find recruiters that don't ghost you?

Anonymous Determined Cockatoo · 16 May 2026

I've emailed about 25 recruiters in the past month. ~6 replies, 2 phone screens, 0 placements. They all start enthusiastic and then disappear once they realise I'm not on a 482 yet. How do you tell the recruiters who actually fight for you from the ones who are just CV-spammers? I'm starting to think the good ones don't advertise.

Honestly the good recruiters find you, not the other way around. Get your LinkedIn keywords right (title, tech, location) and post thoughtful comments on industry threads. The algorithm does the rest.

Tech specifically: Talenza, Robert Half, Hays for generalist. Halcyon Knights and S2M for engineering. Skip anyone whose business email is a gmail address.

When a recruiter messages: ask "how long have you been recruiting in [your function]?" If they pause, they're a CV-spammer. If they answer in detail, they're worth your time.
